Hebrew History
The Bible does not record everything in human history. It does not record every significant event in human history, but the much of Hebrew history that it does record is accurate 100%.
The history of man as recorded in the Bible shows a continual decline; especially in the moral character of men. Man stops worshiping God the Creator and begins worshiping created things instead. (read Romans 1)
God began with Adam (Genesis 1:26 and 27) and humanity got a boost with Seth (Genesis 4:25-26) Man began to formally worship God but man still continued to decay and fell into idolatry. God needed to redirect humanity, so he chose a man named Abram. God called Abram out from the idolatrous people to reveal himself as the true Creator and only being worthy of worship. He later changed his name to Abraham.
God's plan required that He set apart a family of human beings that He could reveal Himself to; that would represent Him upon the earth; and would provide Him with a special people that He could bring a perfect deliverer through.
This people became known as Israel. The Old Testament records much of their history and their apostasy into idolatry; in many cases becoming worse than the pagan nations that were around them. Eventually, God judged them in finality because of their rejection and killing of their Messiah. Jerusalem was destroyed along with its temple as recorded in history in 70 AD. God established a new covenant which would include them (Israel) but would also purposefully include all nations as well.
This new entity became known as the church, of which Jesus Christ was the Chief Cornerstone (Psalm 118:22, Isaiah 28:16, Ephesians 2:20) The apostles and prophets (New Testament) were the foundation, and today every believer in Jesus Christ is a continuing part of this organization and this New Covenant. (Read the entirety of Ephesians chapter 2.)
