His Nature
The Seven Facets of God's Nature
The Nature of God - What is God like?
God is Holy
The holiness of God means he is set apart. He is completely separate from sin. He is different from all others. The primary nature of God's holiness is that He is completely set apart from sin.
God is Sovereign
The sovereignty of God is He is the absolute, unquestionable ruler of everything.
There are a myriad of spiritual entities with differing roles and levels of power that he has created. He rules them all. Every intelligent entity that God created, whether they are Spirit beings or human beings, they have been given free will. They may choose to rebel against the will and word of the most high God, but they will face His correction as a result of their disobedience!
God is Eternal
The eternality of God means He never had a beginning and He will never have an ending. He has always been. He was not born. He was not created. He has always existed just as he is now. It is difficult for us with our finite human minds to comprehend this, but it is true.
God is Just
The justice of God means He is absolutely fair. The Sovereign God has a law and it requires absolute justice. Because God is love and God is just, divine justice is never cruel, but rather a necessary protection of goodness.
Justice refers to God's actions, righteousness refers to God's character.
God is Merciful
The mercy of God means God possesses a profound, active compassion that moves Him to withhold deserved punishment and instead offer forgiveness, healing, and relief to His creation. mercy is not a passive feeling, but a powerful action driven by God's love.
God is Righteous
The righteousness of God means God is the absolute definition of moral perfection, integrity, and goodness. He is completely free from any moral flaw, deception, or wrongdoing.
God is Love
The love of God means God is concerned for the welfare of others. The greatest expression of God's love was in the cross of Jesus Christ.
